Education Details: I am a graduate of the Faculty of Law at Western State University, San Diego, California, USA, where I was awarded a Juris Doctor degree in 1980, after completing a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) at Fordham University, New York, USA, in 1975.
Bar Memberships: I am a member of the California State Bar, license number 97567, from May 1981 to the present (currently inactive as I reside and work in Israel). I am also a member of the Israeli Bar Association, license number 15641, from May 1993 to the present. I have been an attorney for 43 years.
Professional Experience in the USA: After completing my studies in 1980, I was admitted as an attorney in the USA in May 1981. From May 1981 to August 1992, I managed a private law office, initially in Carmel and later in Monterey, California. My experience includes civil and criminal litigation, including approximately 25 jury trials and hundreds of appearances, proceedings, and trials before judges (without a jury) in the federal and state courts of California.
Experience in Israel: From August 1992 to May 1993: Internship and study for the Israeli Bar exams, which I passed in early 1993. I received my Israeli license in May 1993. From December 1993 to November 1995, I was a representative of the state in the Tel Aviv District Attorney's Office, Civil Division, representing various government ministries, including the Ministries of Justice, Defense, Education, Transportation, Health, and Welfare, Land Registries, and VAT. Additionally, as a state representative, I was a member of the specific Natural Disaster Committees for the years 1992 and 1994. From December 1995 to the present: Civil practice and litigation in Israel in various fields, including personal status, labor law, commerce, foreign law applicable in the USA, and international transactions and legal disputes.
Expertise and Experience in Foreign Law: I routinely provide opinions on American law in Israeli courts (including the Rabbinical Court) and outside of them, in various fields such as estates, personal status (e.g., dissolution of marriage, prenuptial agreements, and the Hague Convention), corporate law, enforcement of foreign judgments (including in personal status matters), choice of law and procedure, and other matters where American law is relevant. To date, I have submitted to Israeli courts more than one thousand (1,000) opinions on American law, federal law, and the state law of about thirty-five (35) different states in the USA, and have testified 15-20 times as an expert witness.
